Yes, Dr. McCarty remains a member of Highland Clinic, and therefore her patients receive all the benefits of  this multispecialty, physician owned clinic, including having their health history maintained in a shared medical record and the convenience of multiple medical specialties and ancillary services at a single location.
Membership to SureAccess MD is not to be considered an alternative to traditional insurance.  SureAccess MD membership fees allow Dr. McCarty to maintain a lower patient census in order to provide highly personalized service.  Fees for office visits, labs and studies, hospitalizations, and specialty consultations are billed as specified by your current health insurance contract.
Yes.  As per your insurance contract, Dr. McCarty is under legal obligation to collect co-pays and deductibles as stipulated by your health insurance contract.
Fees for SureAccess MD may be provided by a personal Health Savings Account or a Flex Savings account, but it is best to check with your accountant and with your plan before using this option.
You may still be able to see Dr. McCarty as an "out of network" provider.  The charge per visit will vary, depending on the details of your health insurance.  A SureAccess MD staff member will be happy to help you figure out the details.  Typically, this situation will not result in a dramatic change in the cost to the patient.
Dr. McCarty admits her patients to CHRISTUS Schumpert Highland, CHRISTUS Schumpert St Mary’s, and Willis-Knighton Pierremont hospitals.  She will oversee your hospitalization personally and will consult specialists if appropriate.
Dr. McCarty will communicate in advance with the specialist (in the form of letter or phone call) to provide coordination of care.  If a case is particularly complex, you may best be served if Dr. McCarty accompanies you to your specialist appointment (this will be decided on a case-by-case basis).
Upon signing your contract, you will receive a Welcome Packet, which will include Dr. McCarty’s personal cell phone or pager number and Email address.  If you have an urgent situation that can’t wait until morning, just call.  It’s that simple.
Yes.  This is a convenient method to communicate with Dr. McCarty regarding non-urgent issues.  Dr. McCarty checks her Email several times per day.  You will receive a reply to your Email by the next day, usually within a few hours.  It is important to recognize that e.mail is not considered a secure form of communication, therefore appropriate judgement regarding content of e.mail messages should be exercized.
Direct access will be maintained, but may be on a more limited basis (Dr. McCarty will check Emails and phone messages at least once daily).  SureAccess MD office staff will be available as usual for office calls (appointment scheduling and refill requests).  Dr. McCarty will notify her patients well in advance to minimize any inconvenience.  Physician coverage for office visits and hospitalized patients will be arranged by Dr. McCarty.
