Dr. McCarty grew up in Durham, North Carolina and attended medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  While there, she distinguished herself by earning membership to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society.  She completed her post-graduate residency training at Harvard University's Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Program at the world-renowned Massachusetts General Hospital. She joined Highland Clinic in August 2000 starting one of the first "Med/Peds" practices in the Ark-La-Tex region.

Dr. McCarty practices "patient-centered medicine."  She combines her exceptional problem-solving skills with a compassionate and accessible bedside manner.  She makes use of the most up-to-date resources for evidence-based health care and uses her characteristic good humor and excellent communication skills to keep her patients informed and involved with their medical care.
